Overview

Tom Everett, PhD, is a Chemist at Franklin Well Services, where he leads laboratory operations and provides technical support for chemical development and fluid diagnostics. His work focuses on enhanced oil recovery, water chemistry, surfactants, polymers, and field-ready treatment programs tailored to the Illinois Basin and surrounding regions.

Tom oversees a broad suite of analytical and flow-testing capabilities, including UHPLC-CAD/UV, DSC/TGA, interfacial tension measurement, wettability assessment, and both miniature and full-scale coreflood systems. He works closely with operations and customers to evaluate brine compatibility, optimize chemical selection, troubleshoot field issues, and develop practical, cost-effective solutions for injection, production, and waterflood challenges.

He is the lead author of multiple technical papers, including the 2025 SPE publication Thermodynamic Stability Determination of MEA-Dithiazine Polymorphs: An Experimental and Computational Exercise (SPE 224230-MS). Tom holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry and brings extensive experience in surface chemistry, fluid characterization, and applied laboratory management to support the mission and customers of Franklin Well Services.
